Chiefs State They Are Aware of Domestic Violence Claims Involving Wide Receiver the Athlete
The NFL franchise issued a statement Wednesday night indicating they have knowledge of claims of abuse circulated in social media posts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver the athlete and had been in communication with the NFL.
The team omitted the name of the player by name in their statement and stated they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.
Claims Shared on Instagram
Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention the athlete directly, posted a series of photos on Instagram that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. She stated the person involved was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has kids with the football player, whom the Chiefs selected in the second round.
Police Reports Currently Not on File
No official complaints were available in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have occurred.
Player's Recent Legal Issues
The receiver was absent for the first six games of this season due to an NFL suspension for his involvement in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that left several individuals injured. Rice was given 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.
Statistically, he finished the year with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Kansas City went 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a ten-year span.
