In the final seconds, unbridled joy broke out for Chelsea and caretaker boss Calum McFarlane as Enzo Fernández bundled in a last-gasp equaliser. The goal left Pep Guardiola howling at the heavens and provided the stand-in Chelsea manager a unforgettable moment. On paper, Guardiola versus McFarlane could be billed as the Premier League's most pronounced managerial mismatch in class, making the memory of Fernández's crucial intervention one to cherish the 40-year-old throughout his career.

A Glaring Contrast in Pedigree

On the City bench was the most decorated manager of his time, a man with four decades of silverware for elite clubs Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Manchester City, overseeing his 1,012th match. In the opposite technical area, stood a former coach at non-league sides Croydon and Whyteleafe, who had served in City's own academy and arrived to make his first-team debut after being temporarily promoted from his regular role overseeing Chelsea's youth teams.
